Actor Amit Sadh, recently seen as Omi in "Kai Po Che", will sport a new avatar in his next film, a romantic comedy with Disney UTV.
I am very kicked about this project. It's very different from "Kai Po Che". My look, my hairstyle, my body language everything is new said Amit. Before venturing into films with "Phoonk 2" Amit was associated with the small screen through shows like "Kyun Hota Hai Pyarr" and "Durgesh Nandini".
The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the screening of "Sadda Haq", a Punjabi film glorifying the Khalistan movement and its leaders. The decision was taken by the government late thursday night after senior bureaucrats and police officers, led by chief secretary Rakesh Singh saw the movie. Producer Kuljinder Sidhu who also plays the film's lead, a hockey player turned militant was not available for comment on Thursday.
"Ek Thi Daayan" is an upcoming Bollywood horror film directed by Kannan Iyer. The film features Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Huma Qureshi and Kalki Koechlin. The Emraan Hashmi starrer has got into bad books of Kolkata based self proclaimed Wiccan priestess, author and social activist Ipsita Roy Chakraverti. It happened so, as a part of the movie promotional campaign, Ekta had invited Ipsita. However Ipsita refused the invitation as a mark of protest for showcasing witches in poor light and also took the matters to President Pranab Mukherjee.
According to sources, Ipsita in a petition to Mukherjee convinced him to refer the matter to the National Women's Commission chief Mamta Sharma. In her view, she was unhappy with the way women are portrayed in "Ek Thi Daayan" and it will not only induce more violence against them but also further witch hunts which still exists in rural areas. "I reasoned that the portrayal of witches in the film supports the age-old prejudice of burning women after branding them as witches,".
On the other hand, Ekta Kapoor, who is known for her head-strong personality, said that her movie is an art and she is in no way degrading women. For the time being, the makers of "Ek Thi Daayan" are stopped to make any comment unless they get an official statement from the Commission.
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat, who has mostly played characters with grey shade, hopes to do some romantic roles now. He says, Many actors are coming in to film industry and doing experiments. I am also a part of that cinema, so maybe somebody will offer me a romantic role. I will do it. I am very romantic inside. Jaideep portrayed grey characters in films like "Khatta Meetha", "Gangs Of Wasseypur" and "Vishwaroop".
Bollywood’s most Successfull star Salman Khan may not have any release in 2013. If it happens this would be the first year in the superstar’s career where he doesn’t have at least one movie in a year. Salman Khan's next release "Mental" movie may hit theatres in January 2014.
A lot of reasons have been attributed to the delay of brother Sohail Khan’s "Mental", features Daisy Shah and Sana Khan along with Salman. If Diwali and Christmas slots have been booked this year by the biggies like "Krrish 3" and "Dhoom 3", Salman Khan can’t seem to find a suitable date to release "Mental" movie before January 2014.
Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Bachchan were paired up for the movie "Devdas". It has been 11 years now that the two have not worked with each other. In the past also these two were seen in "Josh" movie where they played loving siblings and "Mohabbatein" as lovers. However, rumor has it that the two actors might star in Farah Khan’s "Happy New Year". There has been no official announcement for the same, but Farah is keen to have Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in her film. In that case, the pairing will make it the most anticipated film. The film will also star Abhishek Bachchan. She has also roped in South Indian superstar Prithviraj and Boman Irani for the film.
The film will also mark the coming together of Farah Khan and Shahrukh Khan. After their fall out, Farah Khan went ahead and directed Akshay Kumar in "Tees Maar Khan".
The much hyped Hindi movie "Himmatwala" which is the remake of 1983 of same name. The movie was directed by Sajid Khan and release last week on 29th March. Movie has concluded the first week with an average collection at the Indian Box Office. Ajay Devgn and Tamannah starrer has failed to surpass Rs 50 crore mark in seven days. The action entertainer registered below the expected mark occupancy on its opening day. In the first seven days, the movie has just managed to collect Rs 44.95 Crores. Its breakup is Rs On Friday the movie collected 12.1 Crores, Rs 8.5 Crores on Saturday, Rs 10.5 Crores on Sunday, Rs 4.5 Crores on Monday and Rs 3.6 Crores on Tuesday, Rs 3 Crores on Wednesday and Rs 2.75 Crores on Thursday.
