Lalit Modi Niece in to Films.
Jayati Modi niece of former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman, Lalit Modi makes her debut in "Gippi", directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Karan Johar releasing Friday on 10th May. This 17 year old ambitious girl proudly takes all the credit in bagging the role all by herself and claims that it had nothing to do with the fact that she comes from an influential background. Nobody even knew about her family connections until a few days after they started shooting for the film it seems.
Jayati Modi plays the Queen Bee of the school, good at sports, studies and extra-curricular activities. Also, the arch rival of Gippi (Riya Vijj) at school.
"Tadakha" Censored Yesterday.
Naga Chaitanya and Sunil starred "Tadakha" movie is directed by Dolly and produced by Bellakonda Suresh. The movie is all set to release on May 10th. Tamannah and Andrea are playing the female lead roles in the movie. SS Thaman composed the music. The film is the remake of the Tamil super hit "Vettai". The film has Naga Babu, Brahmanandam, Ashutosh Rana, Vennela Kishore, Jayaprakash Reddy,Rama Prabha and many others in other lead roles. The post production work of the movie is complete and the movie will gone censor Yesterday.
"Anamika" first look.
“Kahaani” is an Indian thriller film directed as well as co-written and co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh. The movie starrer Vidya Balan, Parambrata Chatterjee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. Balan portrays the role of Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in the city of Kolkata during the Durga Puja festivities. Now, this movie is remaking by director Sekhar Kammula in Telugu titled "Anamika". Nayanatara is playing the lead role and this film will be shot simultaneously in both Telugu and Tamil languages.
The shooting of the film has started already and the makers are planning to wrap up the entire shooting in a 50-day schedule.Vaibhav Reddy is also playing an important role in the film. Endemol India, Logline Productions and Select Media Holdings are jointly producing this film.
Mahesh babu voice for MARD.
Recently, Mahesh babu gave his voice for "Baadshah" movie. Now, he is again lending his voice again for a promotional song of MARD. The handsome actor will speak for MARD, the social awareness initiative started by Bollywood actor and director Farhan Akhtar. MARD stands for Men Against Rape and Discrimination. Javed Akhtar penned a poem for the organization and it has been translated into Telugu. MARD aims to spread awareness about gender inequality and the widespread injustice faced by women in the country.
"Prema Katha Chitram" movie Postponed.
J. Prabhakar Reddy is filming a youthful love flick titled "Prema Katha Chitram" starring Sudhir Babu and Nandita as lead pair. The movie shooting has completed. R. Sudharshan Reddy is the producer of the film. "Ee Rojullo", "Bus Stop" fame Maruthi has written the story and dialogues for the film. The movie was supposed to release this weekend but we are now being told that the film may be postponed. The makers are planning to release the movie in June. The news is yet to be officially confirmed. J.B has composed the film’s music.
President Awarded Phalke and National Awards
Bollywood legend Pran was on Friday conferred the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award by President Pranab Mukherjee who also gave away trophies to the winners of 60th National Film Awards including best film "Paan Singh Tomar" and its lead actor Irrfan Khan as the best actor. Due to the ill health Pran could not attend the ceremony. Pran, best known for his portrayal of negative roles in Hindi movies like "Milan", "Madhumati" and "Kashmir Ki Kali", will be later honoured with the Swarna Kamal (golden lotus) medallion, a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a shawl.
Actress Usha Jadhav was given the best actress trophy for her portrayal of a rustic housewife in Marathi film "Dhag". The best actor and actress award comes with a Rajat Kamal and Rs 50,000 cash prize. Dhag's director Shivaji Lotan Patil won a Swarna Kamal and Rs 2,50,000 for the best director award. Bollywood added glamour to the ceremony with actor John Abraham, Parineeti Chopra, Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui turning up for the event.
Best supporting honours went to "Vicky Donor" actors Annu Kapoor and Dolly Ahluwalia who shared the award with Kalpana for Malayalam film "Thanichalla Njan". Apart from fetching the supporting actress for Kalpana, was also awarded in the Nargis Dutt award for best feature film on national integration category. The winner was given a Rajat Kamal and Rs 1,50,000.
